History Of Temple :-

The Lingaraj Temple is one of the oldest and largest Hindu temples in Odisha. Located in Bhubaneswar, it was mainly built in the 11th century CE by King Jajati Keshari of the Somavamsi dynasty, though the site was sacred even earlier. The deity, Lord Shiva, is worshipped as Hari-Hara, a combined form of Shiva and Vishnu, reflecting the blend of Shaivism and Vaishnavism in the region.

The temple is a masterpiece of Kalinga architecture. Its 180-foot-high tower (vimana) dominates the skyline. The complex includes four main structures: the sanctum (vimana), assembly hall (jagamohana), dance hall (natamandira), and offering hall (bhoga-mandapa). Over 150 smaller shrines surround the main temple.

Historically, the temple marked the peak of medieval temple architecture in Odisha. It remains an active place of worship, with major festivals like Maha Shivaratri and the Rukuna Rath Yatra attracting thousands of devotees each year.
